  • Author: Callie Brooks
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This bariatric-friendly seed mix combines protein, fiber, and healthy fats to support weight loss and post-surgery recovery. Safe for the soft food stage and beyond, it’s delicious, portable, and backed by a dietitian.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup flaxseeds
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons nutritional yeast

Instructions

1. In a clean bowl, combine flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds.

2. Drizzle olive oil over the seeds. Add red chili powder and sea salt.

3. Stir well until seeds are evenly coated with the oil and spices.

4. Roast using your preferred method:

5. – Microwave: Spread the mix on a flat microwave-safe plate. Microwave on medium power for 4 minutes, stirring halfway.

6. – Stove: Dry roast in a non-stick pan over low heat, stirring constantly until seeds are lightly golden.

7. Let the seeds cool completely, then stir in the nutritional yeast.

8. Transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place. Enjoy within 2 weeks.

Notes

You may grind the roasted mix into a powder for easier digestion in early post-op stages.

Add cinnamon and monk fruit for a sweet variation.

Use garlic powder and herbs for a savory twist.
