- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment or grease lightly.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
- Add flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with milk until just combined. Don’t overmix.
- Spread half the batter into loaf pan. Top with half the cinnamon sugar and apples. Repeat layers. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Mix powdered sugar and cream to make a glaze. Drizzle over warm bread.

Notes
Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for a perfect sweet-tart balance. Don't overmix the batter, and always let the loaf cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Add chopped nuts for crunch or bake smaller loaves as holiday gifts.
