Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar (divided)
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup softened butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons cream or milk (for glaze)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment or grease lightly.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Add flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with milk until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  5. Spread half the batter into loaf pan. Top with half the cinnamon sugar and apples. Repeat layers. Swirl gently with a knife.
  6. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Mix powdered sugar and cream to make a glaze. Drizzle over warm bread.

Notes
