  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 cup beef broth For a vegetarian option, substitute with vegetable broth.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced Feel free to replace with bell peppers for a different texture.
  • 1 onion, chopped Sautéing onions before mixing enhances flavor.
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Optional; can use mozzarella, cheddar, or blue cheese.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties, about 1 inch thick.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the patties on both sides for 4-5 minutes until they have a golden crust.
  5. In a baking dish, place the browned patties, pour the beef broth over them, and layer with sliced mushrooms.
  6. If desired, sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30-40 minutes until bubbling and cooked through.
Serving
