Main Ingredients
  • 8 slices bread, cubed (day-old bread works great)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (whole or your choice of dairy)
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled Feel free to swap out for a plant-based option.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  3. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer the cubed bread. Add the cooked sausage and half of the shredded cheese on top.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers of bread and sausage.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight, or let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. After this, uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
