Ingredients

Dough ingredients
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk Warm milk
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature
  • 1/2 cup butter Melted
Filling ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Optional for dusting or a simple glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it activate for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In the same bowl, add eggs and melted butter. Gradually fold in flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Filling and Shaping
  1. Once risen, roll out the dough into a large rectangle.
  2. Spread softened butter over the top and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  3. Cut the rectangle into strips, stack them, and then cut into smaller pieces.
  4. Arrange these pieces on a baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.
Baking
  1. Allow the shaped dough to rise again for about 30 minutes before baking.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze if desired.
