For the filling
  • ¾ cup cream cheese (whipped) Use whipped for a lighter texture.
  • ¼ cup sour cream or mayonnaise Either works, but sour cream is preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons dill (finely chopped) Fresh dill enhances flavor.
  • to taste Kosher salt A small pinch is usually sufficient.
For the sandwiches
  • ½ piece English cucumber (thinly sliced) Slice thinly for better crunch.
  • 8 slices sandwich bread Crusts removed for presentation.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine whipped cream cheese, sour cream (or mayonnaise), chopped dill, and a pinch of kosher salt. Blend until smooth.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer thinly sliced cucumber over half of the prepared bread, slightly overlapping slices.
  4. Top with the remaining slices of bread, spread side down, and press gently to seal.
  5. Trim the crusts with a serrated knife and cut each sandwich into four pieces.
  6. Arrange sandwiches on a serving platter and garnish with extra dill or cucumber slices if desired.
