Ingredients

For the French Toast
  • 4 slices thick bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast) The thicker the slice, the better it holds together when soaked.
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk (or half-and-half for richness)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking)
For Serving
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruits

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar (if using), vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon (optional) until smooth and uniform.
  2. Take your slices of bread and dip them into the batter, allowing each side to soak for about 20-30 seconds to absorb the flavors.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once hot and bubbly, add the soaked bread slices.
  2. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and your choice of fresh fruits.
