Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety) Choose your preferred variety of apples.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon Add a dash of nutmeg for extra flavor if desired.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Optional Dipping Sauces
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce For a sweet complement.
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt For a lighter alternative.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the apples if desired and slice them into wedges about 1/2 inch thick. Remove the core and seeds.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar for the coating and set aside.
Breading Station
  1. Place the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  2. Stir half of the cinnamon-sugar mix into the breadcrumbs for added flavor.
Coating the Apple Slices
  1. Dredge each apple slice in the flour, shaking off the excess.
  2. Dip into the beaten egg to coat fully.
  3. Press into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring even coating. Repeat for all slices.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  2. Arrange breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  3. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle the apple fries with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture while hot.
  2. Serve immediately alongside caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
