Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 0.5 cup ricotta cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh basil, for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground meat with chopped onion over medium heat. Once browned, drain the fat and stir in minced garlic for one minute.
  2. Transfer the meat mixture to your crockpot.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender.
  6. Ladle into bowls and top with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and fresh basil.

Notes
