- Butter a baking dish thoroughly to ensure easy removal of the potatoes later.
- Arrange half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom of the dish.
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream with minced garlic and chopped onion, heating gently until warmed.
- Carefully pour half of the cream mixture over the arranged potatoes, followed by half of the shredded cheese.
- Layer the remaining potato slices, pour the rest of the cream mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the oven to bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes until the top becomes golden and bubbly.
- Allow the dish to cool for a few moments before serving.
