Preparation
- Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
- Slowly combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients, stirring until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead this dough on a clean surface for about 10 minutes until it feels smooth.
- Fold in the mixed dried fruit and candied citrus peel.
- Transfer the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a draft-free spot for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
Baking
- Once ready, punch the dough down and divide it into equal portions, shaping them into buns.
- Arrange the buns on a baking sheet, cover them again, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the buns for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until they are a lovely golden brown.
- To finish, mix the icing sugar and milk to create a glaze, then drizzle it over the cooled buns.
