  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts) Feel free to swap with your favorite.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • to taste Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and arrange them evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Pour this custard mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all pieces are well-soaked.
  5. In another bowl, mix the chopped nuts, flour, and melted butter to create a crumbly topping.
  6. Sprinkle this mixture over the bread and custard.
  7. If you want to prepare it the night before, cover the dish and refrigerate. Otherwise, bake immediately.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden and the custard has set.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
