- Wash and trim the green beans. Snap in half if desired for easier serving.
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove, crumble, and set aside. Leave about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.
- Add diced onion to the skillet. Cook until soft and golden. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add the green beans and toss to coat in the bacon drippings and onion mixture.
- Pour in the chicken broth. Cover the skillet and simmer for 10–12 minutes, until the beans are tender but still bright green.
- Stir in butter, salt, and pepper. Add the crumbled bacon back in and mix gently.
- Serve warm as a side dish with your favorite Southern meal.
