- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until smooth and glossy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until creamy and fully combined.
- In another bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and espresso powder (if using).
- Fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients gently, just until no flour remains. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into pan, spread evenly, and tap on counter to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
- Let brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
- Spread or pipe frosting on top. Use a star tip to make tree shapes if desired.
- Decorate with sprinkles, candy stars, or edible glitter.
