Frosted Christmas Brownies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon espresso powder (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups frosting (buttercream or cream cheese)
  • as needed sprinkles and candies for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy lifting.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until creamy and fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and espresso powder (if using).
  5. Fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients gently, just until no flour remains. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into pan, spread evenly, and tap on counter to release air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
  8. Let brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  9. Spread or pipe frosting on top. Use a star tip to make tree shapes if desired.
  10. Decorate with sprinkles, candy stars, or edible glitter.

Notes
