Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or any plant-based milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine the applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  2. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.
