Ingredients
  

For the pudding
  • 2 cups whole milk Fresh, high-quality for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Can be substituted with natural sweeteners for lower sugar.
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs Beaten and tempered.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Added at the end for richness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For layering
  • 4 ripe bananas Sliced; ensure they are perfectly ripe.
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • to taste Whipped cream For topping.

Method
 

Cooking the Pudding
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Whisk the mixture over medium heat until it thickens and bubbles, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and gradually incorporate some of the hot pudding to temper them.
  4. Stir the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the pudding.
  5. Cook for another minute until it reaches your desired thickness, then add the butter and vanilla.
Assembling the Banana Pudding
  1. In a serving dish, layer the vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding until all ingredients are used.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight to chill and set.

Notes
