  • 1 package (14-ounce) beef or pork Lil Smokies Substitute turkey or vegetarian sausages if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Or neutral oil.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Or 1 teaspoon garlic powder in a pinch.
  • 1/3 cup honey Maple or agave can be swapped.
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce Sriracha or Frank’s Red Hot are great.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional; adjust for heat.
  • to taste Chopped parsley or green onions For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium. Add the olive oil and swirl to coat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 45–60 seconds, stirring, until fragrant but not brown.
  3. Add the Lil Smokies in a single layer and cook for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and heated through.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, hot sauce, and soy sauce until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce over the sausages and stir to coat. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring now and then, until the sauce is slightly thickened and glossy.
  6. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and chopped parsley or green onions if using. Serve warm with toothpicks.

Notes
