Moist Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

This moist banana bread with chocolate chips is soft, gooey, and bakery-worthy — yet super easy to make at home. Made with ripe bananas, a blend of butter and oil, and melty chocolate, it’s the ultimate comfort loaf for breakfast, dessert, or anytime you crave a treat.

Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour (180g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (115g)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil (60mL)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups mashed ripe bananas (360g)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (170g)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas until fully incorporated.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let the loaf cool in the pan before removing and slicing.

Notes

Double the ingredients for banana bread two loaves. For banana bread with three bananas, use 1½ cups mashed. To make dairy-free, use plant-based butter and chocolate chips. Let the bread cool before slicing to retain its moisture. Freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
