- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Stir in the mashed bananas until fully incorporated.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan before removing and slicing.

Double the ingredients for banana bread two loaves. For banana bread with three bananas, use 1½ cups mashed. To make dairy-free, use plant-based butter and chocolate chips. Let the bread cool before slicing to retain its moisture. Freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.
