- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Punch down dough, divide into 12–14 pieces, and roll into 6–8 inch logs. Place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden.
- Mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt. Brush generously over hot breadsticks.
