Ingredients

  • 10 slices prosciutto, thinly sliced, cut in half lengthwise
  • 20 pieces mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • 10 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for brushing)
  • cracked black pepper, to taste (optional garnish)

Equipment

  • baking tray
  • toothpicks to secure wraps
  • oven
  • brush for olive oil (optional)
  • paper towel for drying mozzarella

Method

  1. Cut each prosciutto slice in half lengthwise. Pat mozzarella balls dry to remove excess moisture.
  2. Place a basil leaf on each mozzarella ball, then wrap it with a strip of prosciutto. Use a toothpick to secure.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bites on a baking tray. Brush lightly with olive oil if desired.
  4. Bake for 5–7 minutes until prosciutto is crisp and cheese starts to melt. Do not overbake.
  5. Remove from oven. Arrange on serving tray. Garnish with cracked black pepper and drizzle with olive oil.

Use thin prosciutto for better crispiness. Dry mozzarella before wrapping to avoid sogginess. Serve immediately after baking or refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Optional herbs like thyme or oregano add extra flavor. Air fry or bake for variations.
