Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients; mix until a dough forms.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick and use cookie cutters to cut desired shapes, ensuring to cut out a center.
  3. Place cookie shapes on a baking sheet and fill the centers with crushed hard candies.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are slightly golden.
  5. Allow cookies to cool completely before removing from pan.
