- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Mash the banana in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed banana. Whisk until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring gently with a spatula until just blended.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
