Ingredients
  

For the burger patties
  • 1 pound ground turkey Consider using organic turkey for better flavor.
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs Freshly made breadcrumbs recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped Choose good quality cilantro for flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Low-sodium option may be used.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the peanut sauce
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Use a second tablespoon as needed.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey Can swap for agave syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional) For added heat.
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons warm water Adjust for desired consistency.
For assembly
  • 4 pieces burger buns, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/2 piece red onion, thinly sliced

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey with breadcrumbs, green onions, cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overmixing.
  2. Form the mixture into four equal-sized burger patties.
Cooking
  1. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease the surface.
  2. Cook patties for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, ensuring they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, honey, and optional sriracha, gradually adding warm water until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Spread peanut sauce on the bottom half of each toasted burger bun.
  2. Place a turkey patty on top, drizzle with extra sauce, and top with shredded carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and red onion.
  3. Add the top bun and serve immediately with more peanut sauce on the side.
